An Afghan man named Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, who has lived in Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested on Tuesday and is now facing a federal indictment for planning a suicide attack with a vehicle. Earlier in the month, he posted a video on TikTok, X, and Facebook ahead of Thanksgiving in which he urged that “Americans and ‘infidels’ must perish,” claiming he would use an improvised explosive device that “favored by the Taliban” and that contained yellow cooking oil.
The FBI’s Dallas field office, working together with Fort Worth’s resident agency, the police department, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Texas Department of Public Safety, prevented the plot. U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould for the Northern District of Texas charged Alokozay with making threatening interstate communications. He is currently held in custody and will appear before a magistrate judge soon.
Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a statement saying the man entered the United States during the Biden administration and that he had explicitly said his purpose was to kill American citizens. She cited the threat as evidence of a breakdown in vetting procedures and pledged that the Justice Department would continue to cooperate with federal and state partners to safeguard the public from the alleged failures of the previous administration.
