Charity Beallis told Arkansas State Senator Terry Rice (R, AK) that she was scared for herself and her six‑year‑old twins, fearing that her estranged husband might harm them during what she described as a bitter divorce. Rice directed her to resources from the Ark. State Police Crimes Against Children Division. Police were dispatched to her Bonanza, Arkansas, home on December 3 for a welfare check and discovered the bodies of Charity, 40, and her twin children, both shot. The house was worth about $760,000, and the property sits near the Oklahoma border.
Earlier that year, Dr. Randall Beallis had been arrested for domestic violence after choking Charity at their residence. He later pled guilty, was given a one‑year suspended sentence, and was ordered to pay over $1,500 in court fees. Through the divorce settlement, Charity sought full custody of the children, but a hearing just a day before the tragedy granted Randall joint custody. The case highlights the grim toll of domestic disputes.
