Brown University sophomore says this is the second school shooting she has survived: ‘I’m really angry’
Brown University sophomore Zoe Weissman, who survived the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, was furious when another gunman appeared on her campus. “I’m really angry. I’m really angry that this is happening to me all over again. And I’m just in shock,” she told MS NOW, adding that the memories of that first attack still linger. Weissman described feeling as though she were the age of 12 again, recalling exactly how she had reacted in 2018. She noted that although classes were on hold, many students were “out and about” taking finals before the winter break when the attacker opened fire, taking two lives and leaving nine injured. Weissman also mentioned other students who had survived a shooting in Oxford, Michigan, and then endured a second at Michigan State. In her view, school shootings are not a new phenomenon, and soon more people may find themselves having lived through multiple attacks.
