A 38‑year‑old California dad is now the hero of a page‑wide GoFundMe, after his two young kids stepped in when a stranger attacked them on a San Diego County highway.
On Oct. 17, Chris Davison was driving his 6‑year‑old daughter and 8‑year‑old son to a local pumpkin‑patch for a Halloween festival when a black pickup followed him on Interstate 5 for miles, revving the engine and pushing his car off the road twice. A man named Noah Kane later was identified by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as the attacker. Kane stopped, got out, and stabbed Chris multiple times.
Despite the terror, the children acted fast. The son first tried to clamp a dinosaur sticker over one of the wounds, then used a phone charger cord to tie a makeshift bandage. Both kids used their sweaters and the daughter even yelled for help through the open car window. A motorcycle‑ridden family friend arrived minutes later, cleaned blood from Chris’s phone, and called 911.
CHP arrested Kane on the scene, and Chris was rushed to a hospital. The injuries were severe but not life‑threatening, and he is now home recovering with his family’s support.
Chris’s wife posted the story on the GoFundMe page, calling the kids “heroes” and describing their “living nightmare” as they turned a routine trip into a standoff. She wrote that the injuries were “severe, but no major organs were hit,” and that she felt it was “nothing short of a miracle” that he survived.
The family now faces a long road of medical follow‑ups, trauma therapy, and lost income. They have launched the fundraiser to cover ongoing expenses and to help Chris heal physically and emotionally.
