Anthony Krayenhagen, a stand‑up comic, is now facing serious legal trouble after officials say he threatened a public employee and set a criminal probe in motion.
The alleged threat involved California State Rep. Chance Condit, who serves on the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors. The confrontation erupted during one of Krayenhagen’s recent sets at Che’root Lounge in Modesto, with the whole altercation captured on surveillance video.
On November 12, Condit posted a Facebook message saying he’d gotten a text from the comedian that read “wassup? Is there still an issue?” He also claims he called Krayenhagen, who replied, “green lit,” a phrase that according to court papers apparently signals approval to take his life.
The evidence prompted a Detective from Stanislaus County to issue a warning that, given the climate of mass‑casualty attacks and political assassinations in the U.S., actions like Krayenhagen’s are treated as a grave threat and handled promptly.
Today, Krayenhagen is in custody at a Stanislaus County jail, being held on a $750,000 bail bond.
