Philadelphia police say that Keon King is now in jail for the kidnapping and assault of a woman in North Philadelphia, and that same man is suspected of taking Kada Scott, the local beauty queen, into hiding after she vanished on Oct. 4.
The arrest came after a TikTok clip, posted on Oct. 15, shows King sneaking over a backyard fence, peering into a bedroom window, and refusing to leave when the homeowner shouts at him.
The video has since been shared nationwide, and officials confirmed King was caught on camera trying to break in. King then returned an hour later, removed the woman from her property, and fled in his car while her 2‑year‑old child watched from the backseat.
The woman was never seen again. Police later revived earlier kidnapping charges after the victim failed to appear in court for multiple dates in May. King was re‑arrested on Tuesday in connection with Scott’s disappearance.
Who is Kada Scott?
Scott is 23 and had recently competed in the Miss Pennsylvania USA beauty pageant, representing Philadelphia Township. On Oct. 4 she finished her night shift at an assisted‑living facility and was last seen leaving the job at 9:30 p.m.
Flyers say she “felt harassed on the phone” before the night of her disappearance, but the identity of her callers remains unknown. Police now believe she met King shortly after leaving work and was taken in his vehicle.
The vehicle and evidence
A 1999 metallic‑gold Toyota Camry was spotted near King’s family home that same night and later found parked on private property for several days. Investigators recovered a phone case and a card possibly belonging to Scott at the scene, though her phone was never found. The car, believed to be the getaway vehicle, now ties Scott to the investigation.
Police response
The Philadelphia Police Department opened a missing‑person case and moved it to the homicide unit for additional resources. “The homicide team has the most experience dealing with complex investigations,” said Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski. Police said they are treating the case as if Scott is still alive and are working to locate her.
Legal details
King faces two sets of charges: kidnapping for ransom, false imprisonment, and repeated acts of stalking that caused fear. He is being held on a $2.5 million bail. The charges were refiled after his refusal to comply with court dates.
