Daughter of NYC subway rider stabbed for asking lunatic to lower his voice pleads for more cops: ‘Crazy world we live in’

The daughter of a New York City (NYC) subway rider who was stabbed after asking a loud passenger to lower his voice is pleading for more police presence in the transit system, saying she rarely sees officers in stations anymore.

Her 54-year-old father, a restaurant worker, was heading home when he politely asked a man to stop yelling into his cellphone on the E train at Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer around 11 a.m. Saturday, police said. Instead of calming down, the unruly rider punched him in the face and then stabbed him in the stomach before fleeing the station.

“They’re supposed to be on the station,” the victim’s daughter told The Post on Sunday. “I don’t really see them as much anymore.”

Visibly shaken, she said her father is recovering in the hospital. “He’s talking, he’s eating, he’s good,” she added, though still troubled by how quickly the situation escalated. “It’s a crazy world we live in.”

Other riders at the station said the stabbing didn’t surprise them.

“Unfortunately, it happens so often that we’re desensitized to it,” said 18-year-old commuter Fatima Shahid. “It does make me feel a little unsafe.”

Police are still searching for the attacker, who ran off after the assault.
