Mayor Eric Adams has set up a meeting with his successor, far‑left candidate Zohran Mamdani, on Tuesday afternoon—the first face‑to‑face encounter between the two as New York City gears up for a change in leadership. The present mayor planned to greet Mamdani at Gracie Mansion, handing over a document designed to make the transition as smooth as possible.
During a separate press briefing he said, “I am meeting the mayor‑elect today at noon, and we are going to turn over a document of our transition.”
In the same interview, Adams emphasized that he would explain to the incoming mayor the initiatives that have kept the city functioning over recent years. “What I must do is show what I have accomplished,” he added.
Attempts to reach Mamdani’s transition team were not answered immediately.
