FBI Director Kash Patel has promised to launch an investigation into a controversial birthday note that former President Donald Trump supposedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein. This comes amid growing questions about the Jeffrey Epstein case and its ties to high-profile figures.
The story unfolded during a heated House Oversight Committee hearing, where Representative Jared Moskowitz pressed Patel on the matter. The note, which surfaced from the Epstein estate, features a crude outline of a woman’s body and a message hinting at shared interests between Trump and Epstein. But the White House insists the signature is fake—a forgery that doesn’t belong to Trump.
“You’ve seen the picture of the woman’s body with the president’s signature—he says it’s not his. Will you open an investigation into the Epstein estate for putting out a fake document?” Moskowitz asked Patel. At first, Patel hesitated, questioning the need for it. But when Moskowitz called it a clear case of forging a U.S. president’s signature, Patel agreed, saying, “Sure, I’ll do it.”
This isn’t the first clash over the note. Last week, Committee Chair James Comer shot down Democratic requests to bring in a handwriting expert to check the signature. Comer wants the focus on Epstein’s victims and any government links to his crimes, not old birthday cards. “The purpose of this investigation is to deliver justice to the victims, uncover what really happened on Epstein Island, and find out if the government was involved,” Comer explained. “A birthday card from 20 years ago? It has zero relevance.”
Trump has fired back hard, suing The Wall Street Journal for defamation after their July report on the alleged letter. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt doubled down, stating, “It’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it.” She added that Trump’s legal team will keep pushing the lawsuit aggressively.
Meanwhile, Trump has brushed off calls for more transparency in the Jeffrey Epstein files, labeling them a “Democrat hoax.” Speaking to reporters, he said, “It’s really a Democrat hoax because they’re trying to get people to talk about something totally irrelevant to the success we’ve had as a nation since I was president.”
Pressure is building in Congress for the full release of Epstein case documents, keeping the spotlight on Epstein’s network and potential cover-ups. As investigations like this one unfold, many wonder what other secrets from Epstein Island might come to light.
