A clip that surfaced on TikTok shows 18‑year‑old Anna Kepner dancing with other guests on the Carnival Horizon. The footage, posted by user @nickcapo609, was taken during the ship’s “Sail‑Away Party” on November 2, as it left Miami for a weeklong Caribbean trip.
In the video, Anna – in black shorts and a white top – joins a line of passengers while her grandmother, wearing pink, stands nearby.
When the video was shared, authorities hadn’t yet released much about what happened to her between that night and the day her body turned up. Anna was discovered on November 7, collapsed underneath a bed in a cabin she shared with two siblings, including a 16‑year‑old stepbrother. Investigators say she died from “mechanical asphyxia,” and the FBI is now looking into the case.
The ship docked back in Port Miami on November 9, after which federal agents boarded and began gathering evidence. Although the FBI has not named anyone as a suspect and no charges have been filed, a long‑running family dispute involving Anna’s father, Christopher Kepner, stepmother Shauntel Kepner, and Shauntel’s ex‑husband Thomas Hudson has brought attention to her stepbrother as a possible focus of the investigation.
Anna was a senior at Temple Christian School in Titusville, Florida. She was on track to graduate in spring 2026 and had expressed a desire to join the U.S. Navy, according to her family.
