Hillary Clinton said the recent spike in anti‑Israel bias among young Americans stems largely from “pure propaganda” and “totally made‑up” videos flooding social media about the violence in Gaza.
During a New York event hosted by the Israeli paper Israel Hayom, she posed a question to the crowd: “Smart, well‑educated, young people from our own country, from around the world, where were they getting their information?” She answered, pointing to platforms like TikTok.
Clinton explained that teens and young adults first learned about the events of October 7 and what followed by watching short clips on these sites. She warned that this kind of unbalanced coverage threatens democracy in both Israel and the United States, and it risks misinforming the nation’s youth.
She further observed that much of the online content surrounding the Israel‑Hamas war is one‑sided, describing it as “pure propaganda.” Clinton added that many younger observers, including Jewish Americans, lack a solid grasp of the conflict’s history, making it difficult to engage in reasoned debate.
She noted that more than half of all young Americans receive their news from social media. According to her, these platforms expose them to brief videos—some fabricated, some misrepresenting reality—that shape their views in ways that can be profoundly inaccurate.
