The India-US military exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025 just wrapped up in Alaska after two weeks of intense joint training. This annual event, held from September 1 to 16, brought together soldiers from the Indian Army and the US Army to boost their defence cooperation in challenging sub-arctic conditions.

The Indian Embassy in the US shared exciting updates on X, highlighting how Yudh Abhyas has come a long way since it started in 2002. What began as a simple platoon-level drill has now become one of India’s most advanced bilateral military exercises with any partner nation. It’s a clear sign of the growing India-US military ties.

In the final phase, troops focused on integrated operations under a joint command. This included infantry units, artillery fire, aviation support, electronic warfare tactics, and counter-drone systems. Both armies carried out live-fire manoeuvres and combined battle group operations, which they showcased during the Distinguished Visitor Day on September 11. Senior officers were impressed by how smoothly the soldiers from both sides worked together.

Medical readiness took center stage too, especially for extreme weather ops. Indian and US troops trained in casualty evacuation, preventing frostbite, handling high-altitude challenges, and overall force health protection—skills vital for Alaska’s tough terrain.

Joint artillery teams fired mortars at the Yukon Training Area, testing precision, fire control, and communication gear. The field training added small-unit manoeuvres, tactical patrols, and drills tailored to the local landscape. All this helped build better familiarity with each other’s procedures and equipment, paving the way for stronger future collaborations.

Yudh Abhyas 2025 not only sharpened combat skills but also highlighted the solid India-US defence partnership.
