Wichita police are seeking help from the community after a woman was allegedly taken by force early Sunday morning. The incident has raised concerns among neighbors on the 1400 block of North Voluta, between Grove and Hillside, a quiet residential area.
Police released a 20‑second clip and a photo of the woman last seen around 2 a.m. The footage shows a woman being dragged from a front door while she shouts for help. The camera that captured the event is a typical residential security system. Authorities sharpened the audio to cut background noise, hoping someone might recognize the voice.
“We’ve worked throughout the day on this investigation, following up on numerous leads, and we appreciate the public’s help,” an officer said in a statement on X. The post also noted that the woman and a man seen in the clip have not yet been identified. Police are asking anyone with information to call 316‑268‑4407.
Regional and federal agencies are involved, and investigators are reviewing the video frame by frame. They also looked into a call from Oklahoma that was initially thought to relate to the case but was later ruled unrelated.
Neighbors are uneasy. One resident, who just returned from a family trip in Mexico, told KAKE News, “It’s dangerous. That’s the truth. But, always, I believe there have always been kidnappings. I never saw anything like this happen in my neighborhood.” Her comment highlights the growing fear that such an abduction could happen anywhere in the town.
The Wichita Police Department posted the footage on social media, encouraging viewers to examine the clip carefully. “Your assistance is vital in helping us ensure her safety,” the department added on Facebook.
As of Monday afternoon, police have yet to report significant progress. They remain focused on analyzing the video for clues. Anyone who recognizes the woman, the man, or any details that might help identify the suspects is urged to contact detectives immediately.
If you see anything, call 316‑268‑4407. Wichita police say your help could be the key to solving this early‑morning abduction.
