Cabinet Expansion Buzz Heats Up in Uttarakhand as MLAs Meet CM Dhami
Dehradun, Uttarakhand – Political excitement is building in Uttarakhand after Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami returned from Delhi on Sunday. Six BJP MLAs and one independent legislator rushed to meet him one after another, sparking talks of an upcoming cabinet expansion in the state.
Sources say the Uttarakhand cabinet expansion could happen soon, possibly during the Navratri festival. With state assembly elections set for early 2027, many BJP leaders are pushing hard for spots in the council of ministers. They’ve been meeting CM Dhami frequently to make their case.
Right now, the Uttarakhand cabinet has just six ministers besides the Chief Minister, but it can go up to 12 in total. The BJP holds 47 seats in the 70-member assembly, and around 40 of their MLAs are actively lobbying for cabinet berths.
On Sunday, several MLAs visited CM Dhami at his residence. They included Sahdev Pundir, Khajan Das, Suresh Chauhan, Bharat Chaudhary, Sanjay Dobhal, Anil Nautiyal, Pritam Panwar, and other representatives. During these meetings, they shared key demands from their areas, like development projects and local issues.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said Dhami listened carefully and promised quick action. He directed departments to resolve these matters fast. Dhami stressed that the Uttarakhand government aims to deliver speedy and transparent services to everyone.
He also called on MLAs to step up their role in solving problems and driving development. "Public representatives’ active involvement will make our efforts more effective," he noted.
Dhami urged the leaders to visit areas hit by recent natural disasters in Uttarakhand. He wants them to help ensure timely relief reaches affected families. The government stands committed to supporting disaster victims and speeding up relief and rehabilitation work.
The CM highlighted ongoing efforts to boost basic infrastructure across Uttarakhand. This includes better roads, healthcare, education, tourism, drinking water, and energy supplies. He added that true progress for the state comes from MLAs voicing people’s needs and working together for balanced, inclusive growth.
As cabinet expansion rumors grow, all eyes are on how CM Dhami shapes the next moves in Uttarakhand politics.
