Patients praise PM Jan Aushadhi Yojana as medicine costs drop sharply in Bhagalpur

On December 8 in Bhagalpur, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship PM Jan Aushadhi Yojana was highlighted as a powerful help for people all over India. By offering medicines at prices far lower than the market, the program has cut the financial strain on everyday citizens, turning the shop at Bhagalpur Railway Station into a vital resource for many. The dispensary not only sells drugs at reduced rates but also gives free medicine to the poorest patients when necessary.
During a conversation with LatestNewsX inside the Jan Aushadhi Kendra, local resident Govind Agrawal grew emotional. With moist eyes he said, “A medicine that costs Rs 1,000 in the market is available here for just Rs 300. There is no one like Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Whatever he is doing for the welfare of the people — may he live a long life.” He added that previously expensive drugs are now a few hundred rupees, drastically lowering his own health‑care costs and expressing his hope that PM Modi continues to serve the public.
Others around the station echoed his experience; they noted that high prices once made treatment difficult, but the Jan Aushadhi Kendra has resolved this major issue. Patients now easily obtain quality, affordable medicines. Kameshwar Prasad Sah, a beneficiary, described the center as “nothing short of a blessing for the poor” and remarked that even the costliest medicines are sold at very low prices.
Operator Ajit Kumar explained that the shop stocks almost all essential medicines and, whenever patients cannot afford them, it gives them free of charge. He pointed out that drugs that might cost Rs 3,000–4,000 on the open market are now available for only Rs 400–500, allowing people to save money while receiving proper treatment. Kumar further noted that thousands of patients benefit from the scheme, and many thank Prime Minister Modi for providing such relief.
