A Florida man posted a bizarre threat on a local Facebook feed when he claimed he would “eat” a neighbor’s dog if the woman walked her pet across what he called his property. The incident took place in Putnam County, near Interlachen, on a sunny Friday evening.
Minor Catledge ran into the woman’s path on a public trail. According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, he shouted that he would devour the dog if it crossed his property line. The woman, alarmed, called 911. Police officers arrived, spoke with Catledge about the boundary dispute, and the police said it seemed the quarrel was settled at that moment.
A little more than an hour later, the same man returned to the neighbor’s house wielding a knife. When an Interlachen police officer responded at the scene, Catledge began making threats and told the homeowner that he would stab her for calling the police. The officer heard the warning and convinced the man to surrender.
After being taken into custody, Catledge told a deputy that he intended to “beat” the victim when he got out of jail. He was booked on an aggravated assault charge, taken to Putnam County Jail, and is now held on a $5,000 bond.
The case has drawn a mix of shock and concern from residents, who are worried about safety on local trails and the potential for property disputes to turn violent. The sheriff’s office is reviewing the situation and urging neighbors to report any suspicious activity promptly.
