Heartwarming Birthday Wish from Jharkhand Woman Empowered by PM Modi’s NRLM Scheme
In a touching gesture, Laxmi Kumari from Chano village in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, has sent warm birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he turns 75 today. A beneficiary of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Laxmi shared her gratitude, saying, "May PM Modi live for a thousand years and keep supporting us in our businesses."
Laxmi’s life has transformed dramatically thanks to NRLM, a key government scheme under PM Modi’s leadership. Speaking to , she recalled her tough days: "Earlier, we had no work and struggled to pay bills or our children’s school fees." But now, everything has changed.
From the Sadar block of Hazaribagh, Laxmi got vocational training at the Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) through NRLM. This helped her start her own food canteen at Vinoba Bhave University. Today, students and faculty fondly call her "Cafe Wali Didi." Her canteen offers affordable, nutritious meals, and she takes pride in promoting hygiene and healthy eating among young people. "Nutrition is key to education and well-being," she says.
The income from her canteen now supports her family and ensures her kids get a good education. "NRLM gave me skills and confidence to rise above poverty," Laxmi added with a smile.
On PM Modi’s birthday, she sees him as a guiding figure. "Modi Ji is like a brother and father to us women. His schemes have given us financial independence, confidence, and hope. We feel respected and valued."
Laxmi’s story highlights NRLM’s huge impact on rural women’s empowerment in India. It shows how government initiatives like NRLM build self-reliant communities and bring real change to families across the country, especially in places like Jharkhand.
