Mamdani won’t praise Trump for Gaza peace — no doubt wishing Israel surrendered instead

Israel and Hamas have reached a breakthrough that ends the Gaza war and frees hostages, and critics worldwide are applauding former President Donald Trump for driving the talks forward.

After months of fighting that left thousands dead, negotiators finally agreed on terms that include the safe return of Israeli hostages and an immediate ceasefire. Trump, who served as a mediator while still in office, is now being hailed as a key architect of the peace arrangement.

Global cheers for Trump

Politicians, media outlets and ordinary citizens across the globe are extolling Trump’s new role as a “peace broker.” Even left‑leaning media, such as MSNBC panels and The Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, praised a “remarkable” deal that pulled the two sides into a ceasefire. World leaders, from the United Nations to regional heads of state, have sent congratulatory messages, and there are several voices calling for Trump to receive a Nobel Peace Prize.

Israel and Gaza celebrate

In Israel, cheers erupted at the news. People paraded the Trump logo and waved American flags, celebrating the return of safety to their homes. In Gaza, residents who have lived through Gaza’s “hell” for the past two years shouted “Donald Trump!” in relief that the conflict was finally ending.

Voices that remain skeptical

Not everyone is delighted. Zohran Mamdani, a pro‑Palestine activist, criticized the peace plan, calling both sides’ actions “horrific.” He also drew attention to the continuing violence on both sides, saying the war has become a “genocide of Palestinians.” Mamdani’s stance mirrors the arguments of many who see the state of Israel as unjust, and he has been outspoken against the idea of a Jewish homeland.

Mamdani’s comments contrast sharply with the overwhelming global praise for Trump. While some activists will keep pushing for a logo-less Israel, the rest of the world is largely celebrating a treaty that ends two years of bloodshed.

Why this matters

Ending the Gaza conflict is a first step toward long‑term stability. Even a provisional ceasefire allows for humanitarian aid, rebuilding, and the chance to address deeper political disputes. Trump’s role in bringing the parties together has lifted many diplomatic deadlocks that stalled the conflict for years.

Looking forward

As the world takes stock, the next few weeks will focus on implementing the agreement, monitoring the ceasefire, and planning the next phase of peace efforts. While voices like Mamdani’s will keep pushing for change, the global consensus remains that Trump’s involvement has made a historic difference for Israel, Gaza, and the region at large.
