A driver’s car hit a security barrier outside the White House at 10:37 p.m. on Tuesday, and Secret Service officers arrested him right away.

The U.S. Secret Service said the crash occurred at one of the main entrances to the White House. Officers from the agency’s uniformed division moved quickly and took the man into custody while experts inspected his vehicle to make sure it posed no further danger.

At this time, the Secret Service has not released the driver’s name or explained why the car struck the barrier. Authorities also haven’t revealed any motives or additional details about the incident.

The incident adds to a long list of security challenges faced by the White House each night, but investigators are confident the crash was contained and no other harm resulted.
