A 45‑year‑old man was attacked from behind on the L train platform at the 14th Street‑Union Square subway station during a rush‑hour clash, police reported. The assault occurred as he headed toward the platform around 10 a.m., and he was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. The attacker fled the scene and was still at large several hours later.
It’s still unclear whether the two men were acquainted or what triggered the confrontation that led to the stabbing.
A separate violent incident happened the day before: a 15‑year‑old boy was repeatedly stabbed during a fight on a Bronx bus. Authorities say the teenager was attacked by two strangers near Bartow and Wickham Avenues in Baychester at about 2:40 p.m. It isn’t known whether the blows were delivered while he was on the bus or after he disembarked. He was transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where he remains in critical but stable condition, and no arrests have been made up to Wednesday.
