Maniac who set homeless man on fire seen fleeing subway in surveillance footage as he remains on the loose

Police are still hunting the person who set a homeless man on fire on a Manhattan subway train in the early hours of Monday. In an effort to identify the suspect, officers released surveillance footage that shows him at the station in a black hat, grey hooded jacket, black pants and boots, all while carrying a backpack.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, suffered “significant” burns to his legs. The attack was so severe that officers found skin flakes on a seat inside the train. He was taken to New York‑Presbyterian/Weil Cornell Medical Center for treatment, though his current condition has not been disclosed.

If anyone has any information about the suspect, police urge people to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑577‑TIPS or visit crimestoppers.nypdonline.org.
