Nick Reiner expected in court Tuesday in alleged murders of parents Rob and Michele Reiner
Nick Reiner, 32, will appear in Los Angeles Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m. PST on Tuesday, where prosecutors will formally charge him with the murders of his parents. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Gang and Narcotics Unit seized him at about 9:15 p.m.
Sunday, roughly 15 miles from the Brentwood residence where Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were found dead. He was booked later that night, after 5 a.m. Monday, and is currently kept without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, reportedly on suicide watch.
The famed director—known for beloved hits like “The Princess Bride” and “A Few Good Men”—and his wife were discovered lifeless on Sunday afternoon by their 28‑year‑old daughter, Romy.
Romy told investigators that her brother, whose life has been plagued by drug addiction, “should be a suspect” because he is “dangerous.” Those statements, along with evidence gathered by the LAPD, led to Nick’s arrest hours later and the conclusion that he was responsible for their deaths.
Sources say the family’s conflict began the day before at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party, where a “very loud argument” reportedly erupted—possibly sparked by Nick’s relapse into drug use and his refusal of treatment. Since he was 15, Nick has entered rehabilitation at least 17 times.
