NYC mob pummels couple, sets vehicle on fire as violent car meet-up turns into ‘complete melee’: video

On Sunday night, a large, unruly group turned a quiet Queens street into a chaotic scene, attacking a couple and setting a car ablaze during an illegal car gathering.

The assault erupted around 12:30 a.m. on South Drive at 141 Street in Malba, where a swarm of drivers were seen doing donuts, speeding over lawns, and yelling at neighbors who were trying to restore order.

Victim Blake Ferrer recalled shouting, “Bro, you gotta get the f–k off my property,” and that’s when the violence broke out. Footage shows roughly a dozen ruffians kicking, punching, and stomping on him, leaving him with a broken nose and damaged ribs; his wife was also struck.

City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino, who represents the district, said Ferrer was lucky to survive, noting how “disgusting” the attack was. Local security‑company owner Larry Rusch—whose car was set on fire—described a “complete melee.”

He first heard the reckless drivers doing donuts, ran out to see about 40 cars, and parked one of his company’s cars at the intersection in an effort to stop the chaos.

“As soon as I did that, everyone started leaving,” he remembered. Two individuals then approached the parked car, threw something like a firework, and lit it on fire, reigniting the chaos.

A video posted by Paladino on X captures the blaze, with a speeding vehicle circling the flaming car. She described the event as a “disgrace,” adding that the mob “came with their cars and wreaked havoc on this very quiet area of my district.”

Another 41‑year‑old resident mentioned that objects were hurled into his car when he tried to quell the disorder.

Locals say the street is a known spot for hot‑rod drivers performing donuts, but Rusch stressed that while such incidents happen, they’re rarely this extreme.

A number of armed neighbors displayed remarkable restraint—though Paladino warned that “the level of restraint is not guaranteed” if city officials fail to act decisively, “the people might.”
