A person was stabbed outside a Hollywood Hills property near Granito Drive on Thursday, police said. The incident happened around 1:20 p.m. when officers responded to a call about a potential stabbing victim on the 7800 block of Granito Drive, close to a house Bono – the U2 frontman – recently invested in.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said the victim was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition. The suspect was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Police vehicles were seen parked outside the upscale property, which features a private pool.
The house in question is a sprawling, under‑construction mansion that was said to cost about $7 million. Bono, whose legal name is Paul Hewson, also owns homes in Dublin and Killiney, Ireland. He had been slated to invest in the Hollywood Hills development in 2024, according to The Hollywood Reporter and other outlets. Sources say he was not in the U.S. at the time of the stabbing; other investors are also backing the project and plan to put it on the market once construction finishes.
Hollywood Hills and the nearby Sunset Strip are known for their affluent neighborhoods and high‑profile residents. The area’s nightlife and celebrity ties often make it a hotspot for lavish homes and, unfortunately, occasional crime.
The incident highlights the ongoing safety concerns in the Los Angeles area, even in wealthy enclaves. Los Angeles Police Department officials urged anyone with information about the crime to come forward. The suspect has already been booked into custody, and investigators are continuing to look into the motives behind the stabbing.
