A Florida judge has issued a restraining order that bars Rep. Cory Mills from contacting former girlfriend Lindsey Langston, who is a reigning Miss United States. Judge Fred Koberlein Jr. ruled on Tuesday that Mills may not harm Langston, reach out to her, or post on social‑media until January 2026.
Langston, who won Miss USA in 2024, sued after Mills allegedly threatened to release private videos of her. She said he sent harassing texts in May and June, promising he still had “intimate videos” she could’t let her future partners see. “I can send him a few videos of you as well,” one message read, according to NBC News. The judge found no evidence that Mills still had the videos, and said Langston’s claim of imminent danger was justified.
The order was the result of two court hearings where Mills and Langston answered questions about their relationship and exchanged a large bank of texts and calls. Langston’s police report in July said Mills threatened to “harm any men” she dated if she left him. He failed to stop reaching out after over ten attempts to cease contact, the court noted.
Mills, who is 45, and Langston dated since November 2021 and shared a home in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., from May 2024 until their breakup. He has been in a Florida state‑house office for less than a year and was one of 409 lawmakers who voted in April to pass the Take It Down Act, a law that makes it a crime to publish revenge porn or AI‑generated intimate images without consent.
The restraining order protects Langston from any violent or threatening acts and is likely to keep her safe as the legal matter moves forward. The ruling illustrates how serious courts are about protecting victims from internet‑based harassment and preserves the need for privacy and safety for public figures.
