Sean “Diddy” Combs is said to have survived a violent attack while staying in New York’s Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, according to a longtime friend who spoke to the Daily Mail.

“He woke up with a knife to his throat,” Charlucci Finney told reporters. Finney, who has known the Grammy‑winning producer for more than 30 years, didn’t say when the incident happened. He added that the threat may have been more about intimidation than actual intent to kill. “If he’d meant to do harm, Diddy would have been hurt,” Finney said. “It was probably a warning.”

Diddy, 55, was arrested in September 2024 on federal charges that include sex trafficking, racketeering and prostitution. In July 2025, he was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

His lawyers have asked that he be released early, arguing he has already spent over a year in one of the country’s toughest jails. They also have said he was on “constant suicide watch” and was approached by a fellow inmate who tried to force a makeshift shiv on him.

The rapper’s defense team has not yet responded to requests for comment. His sentence in September was four years and two months in federal prison, and he was ordered to participate in mental‑health and substance‑abuse programs and to pay a $500,000 fine. Diddy has claimed he is sober and no longer running from his mistakes, submitting character references from friends and family during his sentencing.

The case has drawn conflicting opinions. Former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who testified at hearings, urged the judge to consider her experience of abuse and the danger she fears from Combs after her testimony. She highlighted her fear of retribution upon his release.

The incident at the Metropolitan Detention Center adds another layer to an already controversial legal battle for the Brooklyn‑born mogul, who once took the stage name “Diddy” and built a global music empire under Bad Boy Records. He remains incarcerated in Brooklyn as the court moves forward with his case.
