A newly surfaced video captures the shocking moment when a former Massachusetts mayor was stabbed Monday afternoon outside the cannabis dispensary he owns.
According to police, former Democratic Fall River Mayor Will Flanagan, 45, was attacked multiple times outside the Cosmopolitan Dispensary around 5 p.m. Monday. Officials said Flanagan sustained “significant injuries” and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
Surveillance footage from a camera across the street shows a man sprinting toward Flanagan and stabbing him repeatedly. The footage then shows Flanagan collapsing behind a car as the suspect flees. Moments later, Flanagan manages to stand and seek help.

Reports from WPRI indicate that Flanagan is still hospitalized, currently on a ventilator, and expected to undergo another surgery. Police have arrested 31-year-old Corree Gonzales in connection with the stabbing. Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan confirmed that Gonzales has a criminal background, adding, “I’m not so much concerned about his criminal past; I’m concerned about his mental health and his ability to reintegrate into society.”
While charges specific to the stabbing are still pending, Gonzales is already facing four counts of assault and battery on a police officer. He is being held without bail at Bridgewater State Hospital, after a doctor testified that he suffers from a serious mental illness.
Flanagan previously served as Fall River’s Democratic mayor from 2010 to 2014, before losing a recall election following allegations that he had brandished a gun at political rival Jasiel Correia, according to The Herald News.
Police Chief Kelly Furtado praised her team’s rapid response, calling it a “swift” and coordinated effort to address what she described as a “senseless act of violence.” She added, “We will exhaust every resource to ensure justice is served. I want to thank the Mayor’s Office for their continued support as we move forward with this investigation.”
Beyond politics, Flanagan had recently explored acting in local films while maintaining his career as an attorney. Just hours before the incident, he had posted a video of himself singing “Blame it on the Rain” as a storm passed through the area.
