‘Slender Man’ stabber Morgan Geyser escapes group home, cuts off ankle monitor – 11 years after horrifying attack
Morgan Geyser, 23, is the latest “Slender Man stabber” whose trail has gone cold. After cutting the ankle monitor that tracked her, she fled from the group home where she was staying in Madison, Wisconsin, and police are actively searching for her.
At the time of her disappearance, the authorities reported that Geyser’s location was unconfirmed as of Sunday morning. She was last seen on Saturday night around 8 p.m. with an adult acquaintance, according to Madison police.
Geyser first entered the public eye in 2014 when, as a 12‑year‑old, she and her friend Anissa Weier lured a sixth‑grade classmate into a park in Waukesha. Geyser stabbed the girl 19 times, an act that was supposedly meant to impress the internet myth of “Slender Man.” The victim miraculously survived, crawling to safety before a cyclist discovered her.
When Geyser was 15, she pleaded guilty to attempted first‑degree murder and was sent to the Winnebago Mental Health Institute for nearly seven years. A judge ordered her release in January, but the group facility in Sun Prairie declined to accept her once the negative press intensified.
Since her release, she has resided in a Madison group home, which was the only facility she was at when police last confirmed her whereabouts. As law enforcement continues their search, the case remains a stark reminder of how a viral myth can drive real‑world violence.
