Kolkata, Nov 29 (LatestNewsX) – Police in West Bengal say a woman was dragged into a car, forced to drink alcohol, and sexually abused by a group of men on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass.
The incident happened Friday night after a complaint was lodged at Pragati Maidan Police Station. Investigators are now searching for the perpetrators and the vehicle they used, and the woman has been admitted to SSKM Hospital for treatment.
According to police, the victim is a 28‑year‑old married resident of Kolkata. She was waiting for an app‑aggregator ride at a bus stand near Pragati Maidan around 9 p.m. When a car with three occupants pulled up, she was seized and shoved inside.
One of the men was an acquaintance whom she had known for about three months. She later reported that the men forced her to consume a drug‑laced drink and then beat her. The car dropped her off in the Maidan area before driving away.
She was rescued in that condition and taken to SSKM Hospital, where she is currently receiving care. The hospital informed the police, who recorded her statement and filed a complaint against the suspects.
“The search for the three accused is underway. Based on the complaint, it is learnt that the young woman was forcibly taken into the car and tortured in this way. One of them was a previous acquaintance of the woman. We are hopeful that the accused will be caught soon,” said a senior Kolkata Police officer.
