A Texas gunman drove a spree of violence that crossed city lines ‑ killing three people and then taking his own life, authorities said.
The first attack happened around 1 p.m. Wednesday in Sugar Land, a suburb about 19 miles south‑west of downtown Houston. Police were called to the scene after a white SUV had slammed off the road, and they uncovered a woman with multiple gunshot wounds inside the vehicle. Though the incident was at first thought to be a random road‑rage incident, officers later learned the driver and victim were connected – the pair had a personal relationship.
Witnesses pulled the woman out of the SUV and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead before she could be treated. “This was not a random road‑rage act,” the Sugar Land Police Department said in a statement.
Less than an hour later, about 10 minutes from the first scene, the gunman was spotted in a gray Ford Escape in southwest Houston near a mechanic’s shop. Houston police report he had begun shooting at a worker and another man who was filming the altercation at a nearby warehouse. Both men were killed in the attack. The person filming the incident owned the body‑shop where the assault took place. He was 35 years old, according to family members who spoke to KHOU 11.
After the double‑kill, the suspect drove a short distance – about 2½ miles – and was found dead inside his vehicle from an apparent self‑inflicted gunshot. Police have not yet determined whether he had any connection to the two men shot in the mechanics’ shop.
The case remains under investigation. Authorities have not released further details on the gunman’s identity or motive, and they are still trying to piece together the chain of events that led to the multiple‑city shooting spree.
