In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump shared the details of their chat. “Just had a wonderful phone call with my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I wished him a very Happy Birthday! He is doing a tremendous job. Narendra: Thank you for your support on ending the War between Russia and Ukraine! President DJT,” the post read. It’s clear the two leaders share a strong bond, and Trump praised Modi’s leadership.

PM Modi quickly responded on X (formerly Twitter), calling Trump “my friend.” He thanked him for the birthday wishes and the call. “Thank you, my friend, President Trump, for your phone call and warm greetings on my 75th birthday. Like you, I am also fully committed to taking the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership to new heights. We support your initiatives towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict,” Modi wrote. This exchange highlights the growing India-US friendship and their joint push for peace in Ukraine.

The birthday greetings arrived on a busy day for India-US ties. Just hours earlier, US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch visited New Delhi to boost bilateral trade talks. Lynch met with India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry Special Secretary Rajesh Agrawal. They discussed key steps forward in negotiations for a mutually beneficial India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Lynch led a team from the US Trade Representative’s office on September 16. The group held productive talks with Indian officials from the Department of Commerce. Both sides agreed to ramp up efforts for an early trade deal that benefits everyone.

This visit shows how India and the US are strengthening their economic partnership alongside diplomatic warmth. With leaders like Modi and Trump teaming up, the future looks promising for India-US relations.
