On Tuesday, President Trump kicked off a new “affordability” roadshow in northeastern Pennsylvania, marking the first stop on a rapid‑fire messaging push aimed at calming the White House after a rough off‑year that saw Republicans lose seats in New Jersey, Virginia and New York City.
“You know, tariffs are bringing us hundreds of billions of dollars,” Trump said, bragging about early economic wins. “I just helped our farmers out because they’re starting to do really well.”
He put the blame for soaring prices squarely on the Biden administration, promising his policies will fix the mess. “They caused the high prices,” Trump explained. “We’re bringing them down. It’s a simple message.”
The tour follows a bruising series of defeats for Republicans, losses that Democrats and GOP leaders alike tie to the “affordability crisis.”
In this year’s contests, the GOP lost ground in key districts—including among Hispanic and Latino voters—giving Democrats a fresh advantage as the 2026 midterms loom.
