President Trump announced a new chapter in his plan to overhaul Washington, D.C., saying the goal was “to erase former President Joe Biden’s filth and incompetence.” In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, he wrote that the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool would be restored with the help of Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, sending a 29‑second clip that taught viewers to “study it hard because you won’t be seeing this Biden filth and incompetence much longer!” The footage, which plays to Andrea Bocelli’s “Time to Say Goodbye,” shows workers pumping out the water, scrubbing away algae, and cleaning the area. At the bottom of the screen the message “Make DC Beautiful Again” appears, underscoring the campaign’s promise.

Nancy mentioned that the National Mall and Memorial Parks shared a photo of crews working on the pool ahead of the holiday season. The NPS Facebook post compared the effort to tidy up before guests arrive: “Just like straightening up the house before your holiday company arrives, we’re cleaning the Reflecting Pool.” It added that a “Super Scrubber” will be in action over the next few days as the Facilities Management team removes fallen leaves, trash, and unpleasant bird droppings. The population of the pool is expected to be rinsed and refilled over the coming days, and visitors were warned, “Please, DO NOT WALK in the Reflecting Pool.”

The 1923 pool had previously undergone an 18‑month reconstruction to address sinking and leaks, reopening in August 2012 after a $30.74 million overhaul.

Trump has been active in redecorating the White House since he took office. The second‑term projects have expanded at a pace unlike any prior overhaul during his first term. This year, he has placed large flagpoles on both the north and south lawns, repaved the Rose Garden with white stone, gilded the Oval Office and Cabinet Room with gold leaf, gutted the bathroom in the Lincoln Bedroom, remarbled the Palm Room connecting the main house to the West Wing, and added his “Presidential Walk of Fame” to the West Wing colonnade.
