‘Very intoxicated’ raccoon trashed Virginia liquor store, then passed out face-first in bathroom
A “very intoxicated” raccoon broke into an Ashland ABC Store in Virginia and went on a wild spree, stuffing the aisles with liquor, breaking dozens of bottles, knocking over shelves, and smashing boxes. When the animal wore out its energy it collapsed face‑first in the bathroom, only to be found the next morning snoring in a haze at the toilet. Samantha Martin, an animal‑control officer who discovered him, told the Associated Press, “They are funny little creatures,” adding that the critter “fell through one of the ceiling tiles and went on a full‑blown rampage, drinking everything.” Photos released by Hanover County Animal Protection show the tipsy trespasser eyeing scotch, whiskey and Jameson. According to officials, the “trashed panda” was transported back to the shelter so it could “sober up before questioning” and was later released back into the wild with no serious injuries, aside from a hang‑over and poor life choices. Their Facebook post concluded with a nod to Officer Martin’s calm, humorous handling of the chaotic event, and a hopeful note that the animal might now know that breaking in isn’t the best strategy.
