In Florida, a 20‑year‑old who describes himself as an up‑and‑coming influencer has been taken into custody after a TikTok clip surfaced in which he threatened to fire a gun at a school. Authorities say he shared the video in a reckless attempt to “provoke reactions online,” and the FBI was alerted over the weekend. Ethan Ladner, who lives in Santa Rosa Beach, now faces a charge for making an electronic threat that could lead to a mass shooting.
When the Walton County Sheriff’s Office announced his arrest on Sunday, it noted that Ladner admitted to posting the comments and confessed that the goal was to elicit online reactions. The office also issued a caution: “Let us be clear. There is no such thing as a ‘joke’ when it comes to threats of violence toward our schools,” and reminded the public that even remarks made “as a joke” can carry criminal charges, school discipline, and long‑term consequences that follow a person for life.
The offending clip was promptly pulled from TikTok, but officials have not yet revealed whether a specific school was named, nor have they released additional details about the threat.
