Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel took a special step to honor teachers making a big difference in the state’s education system. On September 5, he hosted a “Prerna Samvad” — an inspiring dialogue — with 37 dedicated teachers from 19 districts. This was the first event of its kind, aimed at celebrating teachers who work hard to shape young minds.
Held at the Chief Minister’s residence, the gathering highlighted the important role teachers play in students’ lives. CM Patel praised their ongoing efforts, saying that government schools are now becoming the top choice for parents. He also expressed that teachers are as important as a mother or God in a child’s growth and development.
“Teachers not only teach books but also prepare students with practical skills for life. They help children grow into confident and capable individuals,” the CM said.
He also shared good news: the government will fill vacant teaching positions quickly to strengthen education in Gujarat. The state is committed to improving public schools by introducing modern classrooms, better infrastructure, nutritious mid-day meals, and the Mukhyamantri Alpahar Yojana, which offers healthy snacks to students. These efforts have led to more children enrolling in government schools and also improved their nutrition.
CM Patel emphasized reducing dropout rates and encouraged teachers to keep motivating students. He asked them to work closely with School Management Committees and local communities to ensure every child gets a quality education. “The future of our nation depends on students. Providing education for every child is our shared duty,” he added.
During the event, teachers shared their creative ideas and successful strategies, from increasing student attendance to preparing students for competitive exams. The Chief Minister also gave each teacher a certificate of appreciation as a token of recognition.
Senior officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary M.K. Das, Finance Secretary T. Natarajan, and Education Secretary P. Bharti, attended the event along with education experts and department officials.
Gujarat’s 2025-26 budget shows a strong focus on education. The state allocated Rs 59,999 crore — over 15% of its total budget — to improve schools. This includes Rs 2,914 crore to upgrade more than 25,000 classrooms through the Mission Schools of Excellence, Rs 1,250 crore for girls’ education under the Namo Lakshmi scheme, and Rs 782 crore to support students under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
Other key initiatives include Rs 250 crore for the Namo Saraswati Science Scheme, Rs 223 crore for student transportation and subsidies, Rs 200 crore for upgrading Gyan Shakti residential schools, and scholarships worth Rs 170 crore through programs like Gyan Sadhana and Gyan Setu. The government is also hiring over 22,000 new teachers to improve the quality of education across Gujarat.
This focus on education shows Gujarat’s commitment to building a brighter future by empowering teachers and students alike.
