White House doctor releases results of Trump’s ‘preventative’ MRI after weeks of speculation

The White House made headlines on Monday by releasing details of President Trump’s MRI scan, which had been the subject of extensive media buzz. The 79‑year‑old president is described as being in “excellent overall health.”

Dr. Sean Barbabella, the physician overseeing the president’s care, issued a statement explaining that the October examination was routine and that the results were “perfectly normal.” He noted that advanced imaging is part of a comprehensive physical for someone of the president’s age, helping to assess heart and abdominal health. The imaging was intended to catch potential problems early and to confirm that the president’s body is still functioning well over the long term. According to Barbabella, the cardiovascular scans came back flawless.

He went on to say that there is no evidence of narrowed arteries, abnormal heart or major vessel structure, or any signs of inflammation or clots. The heart chambers were normal in size, the vessel walls smooth and healthy, and the overall cardiovascular system showcased excellent condition.

An MRI machine image accompanies some of the story’s visuals, illustrating the equipment used when President Trump had his scan.

Trump himself mentioned the MRI on October 27, noting that the procedure was “perfect” while he was in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for a routine checkup on October 10, sparking a flurry of follow‑up questions from journalists. The scan was not referenced in the White House’s initial release of his yearly physical.

Barbabella also highlighted the abdominal results, describing them as “perfectly normal.” He added that all major organs were healthy and well‑perfused, with no issues detected, and that the overall detailed assessment is standard for someone of the president’s age and confirms his continued excellent general health.

Additional visuals show President Trump speaking to reporters on Air Force One and on the ground, providing context to the medical updates.

In July, the White House announced that President Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency after noticing mild swelling in his lower legs. Experts say this condition is typically managed with compression stockings to prevent clots. Trump has also dealt with a recurrent hand bruise, which officials attribute to both his aspirin regimen (part of a heart‑health preventative strategy) and frequent handshakes.
