The White House has announced a new web platform dedicated to fighting what it labels “fake news.” The site catalogs reports that the administration says misstate the facts and even features a “Hall of Shame” for outlets that repeat or outrageously distort stories.
The launch page, headlined “Misleading. Biased. Exposed,” names the Boston Globe, CBS News and The Independent among the first “media offenders of the week.” According to the page, those outlets “misrepresented” President Trump’s reaction to a short video shared by a group of six Democratic lawmakers—who the administration calls the “Seditious Six.” The video urged members of the armed forces not to follow what it described as unlawful orders, and the site claims the media failed to report that accurately.
Under a “Key Points” header the website states, “President Trump has never issued an illegal order. The Fake News knew that, but ran with the story anyway,” and links to other stories that supposedly “subversively implied” the opposite.
Trump’s dispute with the officials featured in the video intensified after he blasted them in a series of Truth Social posts demanding that they be arrested. The list of critics in the clip includes Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, Representatives Chris Deluzio, Chrissy Houlahan, Maggie Goodlander and Jason Crow, all from states across the country.
Down the page a “Offender Hall of Shame” points out the Washington Post, CBS News, CNN and MSNBC (now branded as MS NOW). Above a video that scrolls the outlets’ logos, the site calls its leaderboard a “race to the bottom.”
A “Repeat Offenders” section follows, displaying a cloud‑style graphic that shows the names of more media organizations—Politico, the New York Times, BBC, People, among others—in varying sizes. Hovering over each name reveals its number of “offenses” and places it in categories like “Left‑Wing Lunacy,” “Bias” and “Misrepresentation.” Visitors can sign up for a weekly “Offender Alerts” digest by entering their email address.
Another page lists recent articles the White House claims exhibit bias, searchable by publication, reporter or category. More than 30 pieces are cited in the index.
Trump’s friction with reporters has spanned his entire first term. He has publicly voiced displeasure with coverage of his comments and actions, often berating individual journalists during press briefings. Earlier this month, he accused a Bloomberg reporter of interrupting him, saying, “Will you let me finish my statement? You are the worst. You’re with Bloomberg, right?” and added, “I don’t know why they even have you.” A CBS News reporter, Jennifer Jacobs, later reported that Trump responded with “Quiet, quiet, piggy” to a female Bloomberg reporter who was asking about the Jeffrey Epstein files.
