A 35‑year‑old woman was slashed to death with a broken bottle after a fight outside the Mama Dora nightclub on East Kingsbridge Road in the Bronx on Sunday morning.
The melee began just after 4 a.m. as the club emptied.
Two groups of people started a brawl outside the doors. Witnesses say the woman’s husband was struck and fell to the ground, so she stepped in to protect him. In the heat of the fight a man grabbed a shattered bottle, swung it, and hit the woman in the chest. She died from the multiple stab wounds.
Surveillance cameras at a nearby business recorded the attack. The footage shows a man in a yellow jacket lunge forward, stab the woman, then rush off with his friends. Police did not identify the victim or the attacker. The broken bottle, a woman’s hair extension, and shattered glass were left on the sidewalk. No arrests were made by the afternoon of the investigation.
The woman was taken in a private vehicle to BronxCare Health Systems and then to Lincoln Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police are still searching for suspects and have asked anyone who saw the incident to come forward. The Bronx authorities emphasize that the footage is a key lead and that the community’s cooperation may help bring the attackers to justice.
