Wichita police say a 35‑year‑old woman who was filmed being grabbed and carried from her home is safe. The dramatic footage, captured by a doorbell camera, showed the woman screaming as a man pulled her away. The police say the incident is likely a domestic‑violence case involving the woman’s boyfriend.
Authorities received a 3 p.m. call from the woman herself, who had been recorded yelling in the video at around 2 a.m. on Sunday. Police rushed to the location, found her unharmed, and brought her to City Hall for a brief interview. She confirmed that the man’s name was shouted more than once while he held her.
The Wichita Police Department posted the video on Monday, asking the public to help identify the suspect. Chief Joe Sullivan said the primary concern is the woman’s safety and well‑being. They are offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and are working with regional and federal agencies.
“We are grateful for the videos and images shared by residents, which helped us locate her,” the department wrote. Investigators will forward the case to the appropriate attorney’s office for formal charges.
If you or someone you know has been affected by domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1‑800‑799‑SAFE (7233) or text START to 88788.
