In Hyderabad, the Telangana Agriculture Minister, Thummala Nageshwar Rao, met with the Cotton Corporation of India’s managing director, state marketing officials, and ginning mill owners to tackle cotton procurement. The talks, held at the State Secretariat, focused on smoothing the process and fixing any bottlenecks that could hurt farmers or buyers.
The meeting also included a talk about how the state can keep its cotton supply steady through better coordination and clear rules. The goal? A reliable supply chain so farmers get fair prices and textile companies have enough raw material.
On the political front, a local BRS meeting went on in Medchal district. District President Shambhipur Raju and MLC leader Shambhipur Raju, following a request from BRS Working President KTR, drove a “Due Card Movement.” The aim was to expose what they say are 420 unpaid promises the Congress party made during election campaigns. The BRS leaders used the event to criticize the Congress government’s track record and show voters that the opposition is serious about accountability.
In a separate but equally important announcement, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Delhi will set up a dedicated team inside the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The team will concentrate on sugarcane research and policy, a topic highlighted in a national summit on the sugarcane economy. Chouhan stressed the need for new “bioproducts” to boost farmer profits. While ethanol and molasses are already common, they want to develop more value‑added products from sugarcane. He also told the audience the potential of natural farming to cut fertilizer use—a move that could cut costs for farmers and help the environment.
These developments—from cotton supply plans in Telangana to new research focus for sugarcane—show continued efforts by state and central governments to support India’s agriculture and textile sectors.
