Viable pathway to long-term, sustainable peace: PM Modi welcomes Trump’s Gaza plan

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised US President Donald Trump’s new plan to end the ongoing Gaza conflict, calling it a real chance for lasting peace between Israel and Palestine.
Trump unveiled his detailed 20-point peace proposal during a White House meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The move aims to wrap up the Israel-Hamas war that’s gripped Gaza for months.
In a post on X, Modi shared his support: “We welcome President Donald J. Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict. It provides a viable pathway to long-term and sustainable peace, security and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region.”
He added, “We hope that all concerned will come together behind President Trump’s initiative and support this effort to end conflict and secure peace.”
India has long pushed for talks to resolve the Israel-Gaza tensions and bring stability to the Middle East.
Speaking to reporters alongside Netanyahu, Trump urged Hamas to sign on. “Now it’s time for Hamas to accept the terms of the plan that we’ve put forward today. I’m hearing Hamas wants to get this done,” he said. If they do, hostages would go free, and the fighting would stop right away.
But Trump made it clear: If Hamas says no, he’d stand fully behind Israel to wipe out the Hamas threat once and for all.
Netanyahu backed the plan too, noting it hits Israel’s key goals in the war. Still, he warned Hamas: “It can be done the easy way or it can be done the hard way.” If they reject it, Israel plans to “finish the job.”
Here’s what Trump’s Gaza peace plan includes to rebuild the area and stop the violence:
– A temporary expert-led government to run things day-to-day, with Israel promising no land grabs in Gaza and no forcing people out.
– If everyone agrees, the war ends immediately, and all hostages—alive or dead—return within 72 hours.
– A new group called the “Board of Peace,” led by Trump and featuring folks like former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, would guide the transition. They’d manage funds to rebuild Gaza until the Palestinian Authority finishes reforms and steps back in.
– Peaceful Hamas members get amnesty, while others could leave safely for other countries.
– International and regional forces handle security, train Palestinian police, and let aid flow in steadily.
– The US would help kick off more talks between Israelis and Palestinians for a shared future.
This proposal comes as the world watches closely for any breakthrough in the Israel-Hamas war and the push for sustainable peace in Palestine.
