Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha called on people to join hands in a big awareness drive against drug addiction, HIV, and AIDS. Speaking at an event in Agartala, he promised full government support for these efforts.
On Sunday, Saha addressed the 44th Foundation Day celebration and blood donation camp organized by Nikhil Tripura Mahanam Sevak Sangha at a local temple. He highlighted how voluntary blood donation spreads a strong message and inspires others to step up. “Through these acts, we encourage everyone to donate blood willingly,” Saha said.
The Chief Minister stressed the urgent need for public discussions and campaigns on tough issues like drug abuse and HIV AIDS awareness. “We can’t ignore these problems—let’s build a mass movement together,” he urged. As a dental surgeon himself, Saha pointed out that while blood is irreplaceable, organs like kidneys and livers can be transplanted. He added that fighting the illegal drug trade requires united community action to strengthen society.
Saha also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work for the poor and women’s empowerment. In Tripura, over 4.85 lakh women are part of more than 50,000 Self Help Groups (SHGs). Impressively, 1,08,281 of them have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’ by starting their own businesses. “The number of these SHGs is growing, and we must support such positive changes,” he said. He encouraged promoting entrepreneurship, standing against harmful practices, and reviving India’s rich culture and history, just as PM Modi is doing.
To succeed in life, Saha advised having clear goals and ideals. “Work with purpose, and you’ll discover your true self,” he told the gathering. He celebrated India’s progress under Modi’s leadership, from economy to infrastructure. “We moved from 11th to 4th in global economy rankings. By 2047, the vision is a developed India—Viksit Bharat—where every family sees growth and higher incomes.”
