Tripura 5th state in country to announce development roadmap for 2047: CM Manik Saha

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha shared exciting news on Monday: his state is now the fifth in India to roll out a clear plan for a developed future with ‘Viksit Tripura 2047’. This comes as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s big vision for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, aiming to transform India by 2047.

Speaking at a seminar marking the 58th Engineer’s Day 2025 in Agartala’s Pragya Bhavan, Saha highlighted how infrastructure holds the key to progress. “Without strong roads, bridges, and buildings, no state can move forward,” he said. The PM has always stressed this, and Tripura is stepping up. In the 2025-26 budget, the state has set aside a whopping Rs 7,000 crore for infrastructure projects. Engineers, he added, are the real heroes here—they design everything from homes to highways.

Earlier, Saha released the ‘Viksit Tripura-2047 Vision Document’, drawing parallels to the national ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ push. “Just like self-reliant India, we’re all about ‘Atmanirbhar Tripura’—making every citizen independent,” he explained. The government is now focusing on ‘Vocal for Local’, prioritizing homegrown products to boost the economy.

Saha painted a bright picture for innovation. “With team efforts, we’ll build a self-reliant Tripura. India is set to shine globally in artificial intelligence, space exploration, biotechnology, and renewable energy,” he said. He greeted everyone on Engineer’s Day, remembering Bharat Ratna Dr M. Visvesvaraya’s huge role in water management.

Tripura boasts top engineering spots like the Tripura Institute of Technology, Polytechnic Institute, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), and Techno India University, plus other colleges. Saha urged engineers to innovate for everyday people. “Tech is advancing fast, so your role is bigger than ever,” he told them.

The state is going digital too—e-offices now run from the cabinet level right down to villages and panchayats. With 2.1 lakh MSME entrepreneurs, Tripura is buzzing. Saha suggested using drones and AI to improve healthcare and more. “Let’s tap our own resources to ease lives, boost per capita income, and grow the state’s GSDP,” he wrapped up, calling on engineers to lead the way.
