Akshay Oberoi: Made a silent wish that get the chance to work with Shashank Khaitan

Actor Akshay Oberoi shares his uplifting journey and big dreams about working with acclaimed director Shashank Khaitan. He is all set to star in the upcoming film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, and he revealed how he secretly wished to work with Shashank Khaitan years ago.

Akshay recalled, “Back in 2014, during the promotions of my film Pizza, I saw the trailer of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania for the first time. I was immediately impressed by its fresh look, big scale, and the visual style that Shashank Khaitan brought to the screen. I silently wished that someday I would get a chance to work with him.”

At that time, Akshay felt this was just a distant dream. But he held onto that hope. And now, ten years later, his wish is coming true with the new film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari—which is part of the popular Dulhania franchise, releasing on October 2.

The film features a star-studded cast including Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Maniesh Paul, and Rohit Saraf. Akshay shared his excitement, saying, “Working with Shashank Khaitan and being part of a Dharma Productions film with such talented actors feels unreal. It’s a reminder that sometimes the universe listens to even our smallest dreams and rewards us when the time is right.”

Besides this exciting project, Akshay Oberoi is also gearing up for a gritty crime drama, where he will share the screen with Manoj Bajpayee and Saqib Saleem.

Akshay began his acting journey as a child in 2002 with the comedy-drama American Chai. He then played his first lead role in the film Isi Life Mein…!, produced by Rajshri. After that, he shifted towards television and gained recognition. His performance in the MTV show Rush in 2012 impressed director Bejoy Nambiar, who then offered him a role in the Tamil remake of the suspense thriller Pizza. Akshay’s notable work also includes movies like Laal Rang and Gurgaon, which earned him praise from critics and audiences alike.
