“Will implement CM’s Morning Breakfast Scheme from next academic year,” says Telangana CM Revanth Reddy in Chennai

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy shared exciting news during a visit to Chennai: his government plans to launch a Chief Minister Morning Breakfast Scheme next academic year. He drew straight inspiration from Tamil Nadu’s successful welfare programs, calling them a blueprint for all of India.

Reddy joined Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at an education event in Chennai on Thursday. There, he praised the southern state’s strides in education and social welfare. “Tamil Nadu’s achievements should guide the whole country,” Reddy said. He spotlighted four key schemes, but the morning breakfast program really stood out to him for supporting kids’ nutrition and learning.

While speaking, Reddy emphasized the deep cultural connections between Tamil and Telugu communities. “Tamil and Telugu people have shared strong bonds for centuries,” he noted, pointing to shared history and traditions.

He also highlighted the growing economic ties between the two states. The Hyderabad-Chennai corridor is booming as an industrial and knowledge hub, Reddy said. Both Telangana and Tamil Nadu push similar policies focused on social justice, making them natural partners in development.

Reddy paid tribute to the late Tamil Nadu leader M. Karunanidhi, known as Kalaignar. Drawing from his vision, Telangana is advancing reservations: 42% for Other Backward Classes (OBCs), plus 27% for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), totaling 69% for these groups. This move aims to promote inclusivity, just like in Tamil Nadu.

Overall, Reddy called Tamil Nadu’s education model a national inspiration. It focuses on equal access and welfare, helping youth excel in studies, sports, and beyond.

Shifting gears, Reddy urged Telangana officials to stay vigilant earlier that day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of heavy rainfall across the state for the next two days. To tackle potential floods, he ordered close monitoring of vulnerable areas and quick action to protect people.

District collectors must check flood hotspots and move residents from low-lying zones to safe relief camps if needed. Authorities will stop traffic on waterlogged roads and secure causeways. The Electricity Department got specific instructions: keep power flowing safely while fixing hazards like dangling wires during the downpours.

This proactive approach shows Telangana’s focus on public safety amid the monsoon season.
