In Bhubaneswar, Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer, R.S. Gopalan, urged district collectors and election officers on Friday to ramp up planning for a smooth update to the state’s 2026 electoral rolls. He called for careful, on-time execution of every step in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to keep things transparent and efficient across Odisha.

During a virtual review meeting focused on SIR preparations, Gopalan stressed the importance of following Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines to the letter. The team dove into the latest updates on fieldwork and strategies to ensure the voter list revision runs without hitches.

Gopalan pushed for quick action on ECI directives and proactive steps at all levels to support the Odisha electoral rolls update. He told officials to step up and back Booth Level Officers (BLOs) fully—not just during the revision, but always—to make the process stronger.

The meeting covered key topics like comparing the 2002 and 2025 electoral rolls, submitting a summary report, and handling voter applications through Forms 6, 7, and 8 by September 25. They also talked about gearing up to print and distribute enumeration forms to BLOs right after the SIR schedule drops.

Other priorities included filling empty election-related posts, providing logistics and staff help for BLOs to upload forms at central spots, and prepping for press conferences and meetings with political parties when the SIR kicks off. Finally, they planned a second training round for all election workers, including BLOs, once the schedule is out.
