The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has named presidents for all 35 District Congress Committees (DCCs) in Odisha, boosting the party’s grassroots efforts in the state.
On Friday, September 26, AICC General Secretary (Organization) K.C. Venugopal signed a press release announcing the move. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge gave the green light for these immediate appointments, releasing a full list of the 35 leaders.
These picks come as part of the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, a key initiative to revamp the party’s structure. AICC observers visited each district in Odisha, chatting with local party workers and stakeholders. They put together detailed reports, which led to one-on-one talks with top leaders before finalizing the names.
The goal? Strengthen the Odisha Congress from the district level all the way down to everyday members. Just this Monday, Venugopal met with the Odisha observers in Delhi to review progress under the campaign.
During a recent trip to Bhubaneswar, Venugopal also sat down with the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) members, the Political Affairs Committee (PAC), senior leaders, lawmakers, and ground-level workers. He urged everyone to focus on building a stronger organization and highlighted the observers’ big role in picking the right district presidents.
Venugopal even set a deadline: wrap up selections for all 35 Odisha districts by September 30. This step aims to energize the party ahead of future elections in the state.
