Vote chori narrative nothing but sham: Amit Malviya slams Congress over Bihar voter list revision

Amit Malviya, the head of BJP’s IT Cell, fired sharp criticism at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his recent Bihar campaign. Malviya labeled it a “political stunt” and dismissed the party’s “Vote Chori” narrative as fake news aimed at stirring trouble.
This came right after India’s Election Commission wrapped up its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in Bihar. The final list now shows 7.42 crore eligible voters, a key update ahead of upcoming elections.
On social media platform X, Malviya pointed out a big gap in Congress’s story. “As the Election Commission finishes the SIR in Bihar and releases the final voter roll, remember this: Congress didn’t file even one official complaint for adding or removing names,” he posted.
Malviya called out Gandhi’s approach as dishonest. He claimed the whole effort wasn’t about protecting democracy but about “protecting illegal migrants” and hurting national security. “The ‘Vote Chori’ talk is just a cover for their fear of losing elections. It’s like something from George Soros’s strategy book, and Rahul Gandhi thinks it will save his struggling party,” Malviya added.
His comments hit back at Congress’s push against the Bihar voter list revision. Back in August, Gandhi led a 1,300-kilometer “Voter Adhikar Yatra” through 20 districts in Bihar. He accused the Election Commission of running a biased and secretive process that unfairly targeted voters.
Congress leaders said the revisions wrongly removed lakhs of names, especially from poor, backward, and minority groups. They worried this could suppress votes in key areas.
The Election Commission shared the numbers on Tuesday, calling the SIR a success. As of June 24, Bihar had 7.89 crore voters on the rolls. The draft list on August 1 dropped to 7.24 crore after more than 65 lakh deletions. After handling claims and objections, officials added 21.53 lakh names and deleted another 3.66 lakh, landing at the final 7.42 crore total.
The Commission praised Bihar residents for joining in what they called a thorough and open exercise to keep voter lists accurate. This Bihar voter list update has sparked heated BJP vs Congress debates, with both sides watching closely for election impacts.
