India’s top golfers are gearing up for a big week at the inaugural Jakarta International Championship, kicking off October 2 to 5 at the Damai Indah Golf PIK Course. This event is part of The International Series on the Asian Tour, offering a key pathway to the LIV Golf League. An 11-player team from India heads the charge, bringing one of the strongest international lineups to the tournament.
At the forefront stands Gaganjeet Bhullar, a 36-year-old star with five wins on Indonesian soil. He joined India’s Olympic team in Paris last year and boasts the most Asian Tour victories by any Indian golfer—11 in total. Bhullar’s latest triumph came at the BNI Indonesian Masters in November 2023, where he led wire-to-wire for a flawless victory. That marked his fifth title in Indonesia, including three Indonesia Open wins, the record for any player, plus the Indonesia President Invitational. This season, Bhullar has stayed steady in The International Series, making the cut in all four stops—India, Macau, Japan, and Morocco—with a solid T14 finish in Morocco.
Joining Bhullar are fellow Indian pros Khalin Joshi, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Rahil Gangjee, Karandeep Kochhar, Viraj Madappa, Chikkarangappa S., S.S.P. Chawrasia, Shiv Kapur, Rashid Khan, and Yuvraj Sandhu. This group promises exciting action for fans of Asian Tour golf and Indian golfers chasing LIV Golf dreams.
Spotlight also falls on Karandeep Kochhar, who finished runner-up to Bhullar at the 2023 Indonesian Masters. Kochhar has built strong momentum lately, posting a T14 at the Mandiri Indonesian Open on the Asian Tour and another runner-up at the Morocco Rising Stars on the Asian Development Tour. He even made the cut at The International Series India presented by DLF. Looking ahead to Jakarta, Kochhar sounds pumped: “It’s always a treat to be back in Indonesia. We played this course last year for the Mandiri Indonesian Open, and it was a great event. The golf course is in excellent shape again, and the weather has been kind to us so far—it can get really hot here, but this week it feels manageable. My game feels good. I’ve had a couple of strong weeks on the ADT, the Asian Tour, and back home on the IGPL, so I’m excited to tee it up and hopefully have a good week.”
The tournament draws global talent too, including Anthony Kim, a three-time PGA Tour winner and LIV Golf Wild Card player. After landing in the drop zone at the end of the 2025 LIV season, Kim aims to claw his way back into the league. Reflecting on his journey, the 40-year-old shared: “In my 20s and playing professional golf, I had a lot of access to different things, but at 40, I realized all of us sitting up here, we’re blessed to be sitting here and getting to travel the world, play golf in front of a bunch of people, in amazing places such as here in Jakarta. We have to appreciate that and have gratitude for the opportunity we have in front of us. We start tomorrow; we are all at level par with the chance to change our lives every week. This is not pressure. This is a blessing.”
